ABSTRACT

Material waste caused by construction industry activities is a danger to both the projects in question and the environment as a whole. This study aimed to learn more about the nature of material waste, the factors that contribute to it, and waste reduction strategies. A questionnaire survey was employed in the research, and 82 of them were completed and returned. The data were analyzed using mean item scores for all of the objectives. The study discovered that the construction material that is most frequently wasted on construction sites is sand, which has the highest mean score. Furthermore, based on a mean value of 4.51, the analysis of waste reduction strategies revealed that "proper site supervision and management approaches" was the highest-ranked strategy. It was suggested that goods purchased in trips are the most likely to be wasted, thus stakeholders should pay special attention to these products such as appropriately storing them. Also, because the majority of waste is expected to be generated during the construction phase of a project, stakeholders should ensure that efficient onsite management is implemented, as the findings of this study suggest that such an approach is effective.
