ABSTRACT
Moral decadence had always been a problem as it has increased; it has continued to affect every area in the society including the educational sector. The aim of this study is to assess perceived effect of moral decadence on educational growth among secondary school student in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.
A descriptive research design was used and a population of one hundred and twenty – three (123) student were recruited by simple random technique from the school in the local government area. A self-administered close-ended questionnaire was used to collect data. Frequency count and simple percentage was use for data analysis.
The study showed that a majority of the students are aware of what constituted moral decadence, absenteeism of student from class, examination malpractice, negative attitude of the teachers toward student are what really affect student educational growth. Recommendation was also made which include teachers should ensure that their student are not absence from classes, teacher should create a conducive learning environment, parent should check the student notebook on a regular basis and teacher should shun all forms of examination malpractice.
